You can do 'uname -r from a cmdline, but if that's your usecase it might
be useful to comment on the GNOME ticket to mention it

I don't have a clue on how to get that information.
All I see is that when I update VirtualBox on Windows 10, the guest
additions CD for Ubuntu guest refers to the kernel version.
Besides that, I am clueless.
