Today, also one window of Firefox froze. Do you think it is a similar
bug there? Can an application bug cause a window in which it is to be
completely irresponsive? I cannot move it, nor click any of the three
top buttons, nor can I close it by a Gnome extension for forcefully
closing windows.

When it's only Chrome that is frozen that would usually be a Chrome bug.
And we don't support Chrome on this site sorry.
Next time another window freezes please let us know which app it is. If
it's all of them then most likely that would be a gnome-shell crash and
you should then follow
