I assume that this bug is only for virt-manger being run locally? I
opened a similar bug - virt-manager doesn't detect any network
interfaces (including bridges) when run remotely:

I was wrong, this is not fixed
It shows br0 bridged to eth3 as available
it does NOT show brpxe bridged to bond0.13 as available...??

Bugs,
After upgrading to jauntys virt-manager, this seems fixed
It required a lot of dependencies though, including the following:
r...@ev-hendelmanlx01:~/debs# ls -la
total 7944
drwxr-xr-x 2 rootroot4096 2009-01-29 11:02 .
drwxr-xr-x 29 rootroot4096 2009-01-29 11:08 ..
-rw-r--r--
I have virt-manager 0.5.4-2ubuntu1 installed on intrepid. I have
bridging setup:
r...@ev-hendelmanlx01:/home/hendero# brctl show br0
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
br0 8000.001b21302049 no bond0
vnet0 8000.
I still having this problem with Ubuntu 8.4.x and virt-manager
0.5.3-0ubuntu10.
See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virt-
manager/+bug/247677 .

disks and network interfaces
* debian/control: Depends on pytho
Again, I apologize for my rant above. It's good to see that this is
getting some attention. Would it be possible to adapt the patch to take
care of the installation media bug as well since both issues are related
to dbus (AFAIK)?

Confirmed that the patch above is still necessary for Hardy and fixes
this issue.

I have been applying the patch to all my testmachines at work (we run kvm on
our testing environment).
Should be nice if this was fixed until hardy final!

I confirm the patch makes virt-manager working for bridge, on a freshly
installed and updated hardy beta.
It might be good considering applying it :)

So, um, yeah...it's April now, this bug has been open for nearly two
months, and Hardy is going to be officially released soon. Considering
KVM support is one of the touted new features, I would hope this bug is
fixed before it is released. Not holding my breath... I'm on a fresh

I hade the same problem and applied the patch. I now have "eth0 (Bridge:
br0)" visible in the dropdown menu.

I've also been having this problem trying to use virt-manager on Hardy
(updated as of this morning 22/03). Searching around I found this post
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2516 which indicated a problem with
dbus security and provides a patch for /usr/share/virt-

...OK, we've set up another test system, where the bug occurred exactly
as reported.
The output of your shell script is:

Due to my bad mileage with hardy and virtualization (xen-3.2 packaging
problems, instabiality of the qemu network adapter inside kvm) I had to
downgrade the questionable machine to gutsy. We just nominated another
test system, where we can safely play with with KVM and XEN. However,

Wolfgang, could you please try running the attached script as e.g. "sh

Does it list "eth0 (Bridge: br0)"? This is what I see when selecting an
interface.
