As suggested on the upstream bug, likewise-open does come back from unplugged-mode, after "winbind cache time" seconds (default is 900). Setting this to a lower value will make it reconnect faster, though it might not be needed, as using cache credentials is perfectly valid if its not permanent. K

I reproduced it (likewise-open goes to "unplugged-mode and never comes back) but a reboot fixes it (or a restart of likewise-open, as cfrein suggested).
