Howdy,
Yeah when you say the problem is everything looks fine it's just not
showing up, my first thought was "You're using wayland aren't you?"
Barrier doesn't work on wayland, there's an upstream bug reported[0] on
it which mentions another project[1] you may want to try if you use
GNOME on Wayla
it is a Wayland related issue. Works fine in an Ubuntu on Xorg session.
