I think this is a distribution-specific bug - desktops (such as KDE)
should start the D-Bus session daemon when the desktop starts. I think
it's fair that Awn assumes that D-Bus is already running when it starts
up. I'm pretty sure several other D-Bus using programs assume the same
thing. Theref

As I understand it, Julien (gilir) is currently trying to get a package
dependency change accepted.

I have run awn without incident under Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon using both
KDE 3.5.x and KDE 4.0.x. Neither is awn's "native" environment which, if
I understand correctly is Gnome, but the applications runs smoothly for
me.

I would be agreed if Recommends packages was installed by default. If I
put on recommends, people will install the package, try to launch it,
and will have the same bug rep

@Luca
I changed the way python binaries are made by only call pycentral with
binary-post-install instead of DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM=pycentral because it's is
more simple and correctly made python depends for binaries (the previous way
didn't).
@Sebastien
The problem appears when AWN is installed in
any reason why you need to depends on x11-dbus? why the dbus started by
GNOME for example would not be enough?

Well just looking through kate-kde4 deps, it depends on kdelibs5 which
pulls down dbus-x11 which depends on dbus itself. But dbus comes with a
default Ubuntu install so I can't imagine that this is the issue.

Yo
Thanks for the test. That's strange, awn depends on libdbus-1-3 and
libdbus-glib-1-2, that should provide all dbus necessary stuff. Is there
another dbus package installing with kate ?
