Hello Jofen, or anyone else affected,
Accepted gnome-shell-extension-appindicator into focal-proposed. The

Thanks. That appears to confirm this is a unique bug and not a duplicate

1. Please run this command in a Terminal window:
journalctl -f

2. Can you reproduce the same bug with any indicator other than mega.nz

Hello
I'd like to help out - that's how U do it in open source!
But Im not that technical - can you tell me how to investigate what the
problem might be because I don't know how to do it without instructions.
Im not a noob but nor a programmer - somewhere in between - so I can

I'm thinking if this is a general problem with animated indicators then
bug 784055 might cover it. If however it's due to lots of logging then
bug 1849142 might cover it. Until we know which this bug is incomplete.
If you don't care to investigate further then I understand, and this bug

I wonder, was the 'mega.nz' icon animating more than others? Or causing
lots of messages in the log when you run:

It was the mega.nz applet that was the culprit.
I uninstalled the applet and now my gnome works just fine.
Thank you very much for the support!
When my salary comes the 27th I'll donate to canonical - this is
better support than both Apple and Microsoft.

Yes!
All the lag and freeze are gone.
I never thought that the applets cloud cause this issue.
I'll try them one at the time - are you interested in which applet it is
causing all this?
Kind regards

The journal.txt and top made me think about Gnome being the source of the
freezing.
I installed Mate and changed DE and have no freeze at all - I guess that
proves it has
something to do with GNOME.

Hello Daniel!
I had one extension active (User Theme) for getting the dark theme truly
dark everywhere.
I checked top and it is gnome + shell that push the cpu up to over 80% -

I made two journal files just in case - I'll attach them.

Please:
1. Run the 'Extensions' app and check you don't have any non-Ubuntu
extensions enabled. If you do then please turn them off.
2. Immediately after the next freeze please run:
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
and then attach the resulting file here.
