I'm using the distro version from Ubuntu Focal.
Actually the problem is solved up for me — Don't know when, (I don't use
manual directory scans often) but when running one last night, I didn't
have hidden items showing afterwards.

I'm not sure why that's showing up like that. I'm attaching a screenshot of
6.05 where it shows a regular button, so hopefully when/if you upgrade it'll be
different.

Are you using snaps or debs? I'm wondering if the snap structure is
different and would account for you not having it in that location.
Can you try something like:
sudo dpkg -L clamtk

the empty check box next to the view button could may be be replaced
with an eye icon as the check box serves no purpose since it never gets
checked, just my 2 cents.

tried as you directed but after that the ' Scan a directory ' button in
clamtk stopped responding, so i rolled back the changes.
what needs to be done is :
01. in sub select file edit line 583 from >>> $dialog->set_show_hidden(
TRUE ); <<< to >>> $dialog->set_show_hidden( FALS
Yeah ... not there either. I'll get back to it later on this evening.

Actually, I think I see the problem.
If you can test this, that'd be great. You will require sudo for this.
Please locate the GUI.pm file. It's usually in a directory like this:
/usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/ClamTk/
Scroll down to the "sub select_directory {" line (should be line 610

Yes, me too. I also have the issue of the contextual menu items not
showing up for ClamTK in Nautilus file manager. Does that affect any
others?
