I would highly appreciate if this bug report would be considered as
'confirmed'. Sadly, it seems that this was marked as incomplete and

This should be a graphic driver issue while
a) blender renderer is supposed to be purely cpu based.
b) in my xp there are not any modifications to make better use of the graphic
driver.
Besides, non-free drivers are unfortunately out of the question, at
least in my case.

This sounds like using optimized drivers (e.g. the non-free nvidia-glx(-new)
drivers for Nvidia) could make a difference?
