I've found out the cause of this problem. It's the "Disable all menu access
keys" option accessible from "Edit" > "Keyboard Shortcut". If this option
checked , the labels will be gone after the gnome-terminal restarted.
To reproduce this bug maybe you should test it by doing so.

May you get an strace log? If it works fine with "root" it should work
fine with another new user if the gconf keys are broken on your account,
may you test that? thanks in advance.

Now here's my latest investigation :
Running gnome-terminal with root privileges doesn't reproduce the bug. So I
guess it's the user's gnome configuration (gconf) that screw everything.

Yeah , I got this bug too.

I just had this happen with Hardy Alpha 4 during tonight's updates.
If I do Show Menubar, a menu bar appears with nothing on it. The
hotkeys don't spawn a new tab or new window, although I can from the
context menu.

Thanks Pedro. 'Show Menubar' worked.
Do you know why the title bar is missing min, max, close buttons? And
why I can't open a new tab using CTRL-SHIFT-TAB? Actually, I can't
even Alt-TAB to another window?
I would have filed another bug report but it could be something simple
as my original p
Does right clicking and selecting "Show Menubar" works?

Thanks for the quick response Pedro,.
Yes. I created a new user and the same problem persists.
Attached is what it looks like. I also checked that compiz is turned
off in Appearance settings.

Thanks for your report, can you take a screenshot of the issue? Does
right click on the terminal and selected "Show Menubar" works for you?
Is this reproducible with every user on your system?
