Well thanks for trying to help. I still think there might be something
wrong with the driver because everyone has this issue with this device
and newer drivers.

I can't get any linux distro to work except for SLAX-7 which is probably
from 2013. I did a Kernel update hoping that would fix it that might
explain the version mismatch. So should I install gcc-8-base using
sudo apt-get install gcc
?

I do not own an AMD GPU
i have an Nvidia GPU but it happened the same thing.
The resolution is stuck at 1024*768 too BUT I suppose its NOT X-Org
related
I found out that GCC got updated but the Kernel was Compiled using the
old version of GCC - which breaks CC checks which leads to DKMS not
work
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Confirmed

I had select the "xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd" package already but for
some reason is still says "xserver-xorg-input-evdev" under "affects" I'm
trying to correct that but I'm not sure if it will work.
** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-
video-radeonhd (Ubuntu)
