This patch is not applicable any more as hal_lpadmin in Hardy got restructured in terms of HPLIP support. Especially print queues using the HPLIP CUPS backends are not disabled any more when the printer is turned off or disconnected. This should have fixed this bug. ** Changed in: hplip St

Following a recent update to CUPS, it has now reverted to its old only- semi-broken behaviour of stopping the printer for no apparent reason (sometimes part-way through a page), but at least marking it as such and allowing me to start/'enable' it again. -- Printing fails in Ubuntu, works in Kubun
