I have backported libdvdnav 4.1.2-2 from intrepid. You can find it in my
PPA: https://launchpad.net/~bdrung/+archive. With this version I can
play "The Bourne Ultimatum" with VLC, but mplayer is still crashing.

The patch confirmed to work for VLC (which uses libdvdnav). The mplayer
seem to have an own copy of libdvdnav, because it still crashes.
