we are still not yet at the point where network-manager detects all
available hardware and thus those messages are still important for bug
reporters to find in their syslog.

I'm using debian sid, and I didn't had that messages until removed
sysklogd.
Reinstalling that daemon just kept out the messages from
/var/log/messages. Try it =D.

Every week or so I find myself needing to delete a /var/log/messages
file that's larger than a gig, most of it NetworkManager output. PLEASE
DISABLE THE DEBUG OUTPUT.

This can be confirmed. I too don't like it when dozen of messages from
NetworkManager waste your precious console space.

I second this, It's really annoying for an end-user to see all the debug
generated by NetworkManager.

I would also love to have this option. I have usplash disabled, so on
boot network manager spills huge amounts of text onto the when it
starts, making it impossible to see anything else that is going on.
