Ubuntu 18.10. My resolvconf package is currently 1.79ubuntu10.18.10.3,
and with this it works. What the version number was that solved it I
don't know, but it was the one released around the day I reported the
bug solved.

A new resolve package with today's update solved the problem; apparently
it was an issue with name resolving.
