In Debian it was fixed in <1 mouth after the initial 18.04 LTS release.
Would be great to have it integrated into 18.04 before the end of its long-term
support period.

Actually, there are two bugs here:

They've both been fixed in Debian version 0.2.17-5.
I suggest Ubuntu to adopt the load of them. And ideally a better version
of the 857796 fix.
