My wish exactly matches this report, so I add it here (and on
bugzilla.gnome.org).
I read all those "bad MP3 VBR with soundjuicer" bugs. What I miss anyway
is a simple MP3 CBR profile! To make it easier for beginners I propose:
Profilename: "MP3 128kbit/s"
GStreamer: "audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,
feel free to forward it upstream to bugzilla.gnome.org since you're
interested on the feature.

Calling something "losless" wich is not is a bug to me. Asking for
better profiles can be seen as a feature request.
Needing to close and start again until a new profile appears is a
separate issue. I will file it separately if it isn't registered
already.

I can create a new profile. Sound Juicer needs to be closed and started
again to actually list newly created profiles. Then it works allright.
However, I filed this bug since users cannot be expected to insert a line like:
audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! wavenc name=enc
;)

Thanks for your report, you can create another profile and select wav as
the extension, does that works fine? if not this is probably a gstreamer
issue rather than sound-juicer one. thanks.
