Public bug reported: Ubuntu release ================ Description: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS Release: 16.04 Package versions ================== linux-firmware: Installed: 1.157.14 Candidate: 1.157.14 Version table: *** 1.157.14 500 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-updates/main i386 Packages 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-security/main amd64 Packages 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-security/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.157 500 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages linux-image-generic-hwe-16.04: Installed: 4.13.0.26.46 Candidate: 4.13.0.26.46 Version table: *** 4.13.0.26.46 500 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://mirror.atlantic.net/ubuntu xenial-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status What I expected to happen =========================== WiFi card (QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter) works properly, as it did with kernel series 4.10. What happened instead ======================= Since upgrade to 4.13 series, WiFi card loses connection to access point (can't even ping access point) while Ubuntu still believes it's properly connected. It needs to be disconnected and reconnected to access point to regain a real connection. Solution ========== >From https://askubuntu.com/a/978143/616451: The solution is simple: install updated firmware from firmware repository provided by Qualcomm. Detailed steps: 1. Download https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k- firmware/blob/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/board-2.bin and overwrite /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/board-2.bin with the downloaded file. 2. Download https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k- firmware/blob/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/4.4.1/firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00065-QCARMSWP-1 and overwrite /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-6.bin. 3. Restart Related bug report ==================== Also from https://askubuntu.com/a/978143/616451: I had the same issue and found a Debian bug report that also has a solution.
