Hi!
I have now realized that the problem was the complexity of alsamixer and
kmix. Some settings cannot be set from the kmix but must be set using
the text-based alsamixer. When I unmuted the IEC958 in alsamixer and
fiddled with the volumes for a while I managed to get the sound working
properly.
I tested the Hardy Alpha 5 Live CD, and it worked for me. Thanks.

I'm using a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR motherboard which uses CK804. I have
sound working in the front left and right channels, but I can't get
anything from the Center or Rear channels.

Ok, actually I can have sound BUT only through the surround output, with
"Surround jack mode" set to "shared" and "Duplicate front" set to "On"

off for weeks to solve it but it seems there is no solution. Hope it
