Same here after doing an apt-get upgrade this afternoon.
Seems that it updated some gl/mesa related packages, so I guess they may be the
cause. From the apt logs:
Unpacking libegl1-mesa-dev:amd64 (17.2.4-0
You can always go back to older kernel version (4.4.x) from grub menu
while rebooting.

Can't login after latest updates (4/1), Unity / Co
To be a bit more precise, I can login, but then Unity starts a crash
loop, so nothing showing, just a wallpaper.

As a workaround I enabled low graphics mode in a terminal, and rebooted
nano ~/.config/upstart/lowgfx.conf
Paste this into it:
start on starting unity7
pre-start script
initctl set-env -g UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1
end script
Log out and back in
