I think I am also affected by this issue. Can I do any support/testing to find
a solution?
My Blu-ray burner is not detecting Blu-ray discs any more. And only Blu-ray
discs (tried several) are affected, DVD for example works fine.

Apparently this isn't related to kernel anymore. Booting on an older
kernel doesn't help. It used to before, but now it doesn't matter which
kernel I boot on - the drive still isn't detected. :-(

This is still a problem.
Burner apps like k3b does detect the drive. And I can also burn standard
stuff with command line burner tools like wodim and the likes.
The all of these tools doesn't identify my Blu-ray burner as a Blu-ray

Hi all,
I suffered from the same problem and can confirm, that the problem does
also affect external DVD burners. I tested on two machines. One is
equipped with an external USB Blu-Ray burner and one with an external
USB DVD burner. Going back to kernel 4.4.0-97-generic made both drives
work again
Hi Joseph,
Sorry I haven't had time to test this yet. Things are kinda hectic here
in December.
But I got kernel 4.4.0-104-generic just now and can report that the
problem is still there.
Will see if I can find time to try that upstream thingy at some point,
but to be honest I'm probably giv
