in safe mode:

Just clicked on a link to open a new window from Firefox, and again got
a crash, but the nastier one--the white screen of death. From that state
there's nothing to be done but cut the power and reboot.
I went ahead and switched back to the restricted driver after that
crash, and I've rebooted agai
