I still think this bug falls completely under point 2.1 of the SRU wiki page.
Twitter changed the character limit for a reason, and to say: "just use the old
limit" is not a solution, because it makes you now act differently on their
service than the rest of the users, who can use the new limit.

Not being able to send 280 char tweets is _not_ a heavy but - just use
two tweets as everyone did for years.
JFTR: There will be a version in stretch-backports with 280 char support

Since not using the correct Character Limit is a heavy bug, i think the stable
packages should be updated/patched.
