it never got fixed, but I haven't heard of anybody else having any
problems.

The ubuntu 7 live cd will load sometimes, but the ubuntu 8 alpha 5 live
cd would not load. I was able to log in and start gdm manually though.

I isolated the line that causes problems in /etc/init.d/bluetooth
I commented it out and it no longer crashed my computer, but bluetooth doesn't
work right either. it's towards the end of the file around line 242
