This issue occurs with the final 17.10 release candidate.
Testing the 32bit version.
Looking at the syslog, whatever the installer minimum space calculation
is, it is calculated a bigger space than parted.

The installer should have prompted you to file a bug report and
automatically attach /var/log/syslog. We need the logs to diagnose the
problem.

tried also 64bit latest alpha 2 image. 40GB virtualbox HDD - again
the same issue occurred. Odd that it doesnt occur with a 31GB HDD but
does with 40GB.

Installed and subsequently booted into a side-by-side install using the
minimum partition size allowed.
Maybe it's a 32bit problem, or it's been fixed in the current image?
