PPC + kernel 4.8 swap_dup: Bad swap file entry 2c16ed28

@Talat, there was not specific fix that I know of. However, 4.8.0-27 had
the 4.8.1 upstream stable updates applied. The fix may have come in
from upstream with these updates.
I'll mark this bug as "Incomplete" for now. Just change the status back
to "Confirmed" if the bug re-appears.

You re
Hi,
we didn't see the issue on kernel 4.8.0-27-generic.
do we have fixes that related to this area in kernel 4.8.0-27-generic?
thanks,

Sorry if I'm completely wrong, I just wanted to give it a shot. I tried
hard to see if you have included the infamous bug that is fixed with
this commit here: https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel-

crack/commit/?id=21f54ddae449f4bdd9f1498124901d67202243d9
I started a kernel bisect between v4.8-rc8 and v4.8 final. The kernel
bisect will require testing of about 7-10 test kernels.
I built the first test kernel, up to the following commit:
f51fdffad5b7709d0ade40736b58a2da2707fa15
The test kernel can be downloaded from:

Thanks for the update and sorry for the delay.
I'll start a kernel bisect between v4.8-rc8 and v4.8 final. A bisect
will required testing about 10 kernels, but will tell us the commit that
introduced this regression.
Could you also test the v4.9-rc7 kernel to see if this bug is already fixed in

Hi Joseph,
we already test the following kernel and here is the status.
v4.8-rc8 http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8-rc8/ working
v4.8-rc1 http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8-rc1/ working
v4.8 http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8/ not working
v4.9
I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this
regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel where the issue
started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not have this
issue.
Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for
the first kerne
