I've only noticed this recently but I don't look in the journal often so
can't say how long the issue has been there.
I tried the 4.8 kernel. The messages were still there but lower
frequency 2 or 3 per minute.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
