This document works completely fine here, no crash, no request to
recover document, etc. Do you still have problems opening this document?
If it does not consistently cause a problem, how often does it cause a
problem?

Sure, but it doesn't crash anymore when opening this file. Instead,
sometimes OpenOffice closes, then wake with proposal to recover the .xls
file. And this is a typical behaviour since Gutsy release - very often
OpenOffice vanishes and then is waking up, offering to recover the .xls-
files.
