Hmm, slightly confusing... This bug is a duplicate of bug 1590099 fixed
in Mir 0.24.0.
However the use case I mentioned in comment #1 seemingly won't be solved
by that. And probably needs more work.

I'm not sure what state pointer grabs/confinement is in but I know
bschaefer has been working on it.
Just on a related note -- GTK, X11, and probably any toolkit requires
pointer grab support without confining the cursor location. The use case
is to close a pop-up menu; the user clicks outside the
