Also when you changed the values in /etc/usplash.conf, did you run
update-initramfs -u to apply your changes? If not, you may want to try

I have installed a fresh Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 4 and I also have updated all its
packages.
I also have got Kubuntu Hardy installed since Alpha 3 up to date.
In both this issue continues.
I think this bug is different of bug #150930, because this is not fixed if I
set right resolution in /etc/usplash
Can you download and install latest Hardy alpha release to test if this
bug can still be reproduced? Thanks for your bug report
