No trackpad options are displaying in settings
it's not supposed to be installed and unity-control-center doesn't know
how to configure it so I was checking you didn't have it which would
create a similar issue, if that was not the case so that's something
else...

That package was not originally installed. I tried installing it and
restarting my system but I still don't have the ability to modify my
touchpad settings.
