I'm setting the status of this bug to 'Incomplete' as it's not seen any

More: when I tried just now to put widgets on my empty desktop, the
widget menu seems to think that there are widgets out there: it claims I
have 5 (!!) "digital clock" and 5 "pager".
Also, my chosen wallpaper is not active (but it is remembered in the
menu).
So - a lot is broken.

It is getting WORSE!
Now, on a new computer (DELL optiplex 790,) the icons in "folder view"
still get jumbled after reboot; but also "desktop view" looses all
widgets after reboot.
Please assist!
