@VLK: If you want Ubuntu to change summer and winter time automatically, you
need to set UTC=yes in /etc/default/rcS. Please note this may have impact on a
windows installation, if you use dual booting. You can read more in the Wiki:

It didn't set winter time automatically and after I set it manually it
keep resetting it back to summer time. After I run ntpdate command
specified above the problem seems to resolve itself.
I haven't rebooted my laptop for a few days but at night it is

@Lieven:
Yes, ntp is working. I use it as well, and for me it did change the clock back
from summer to winter time, as my syslog shows:
Oct 28 11:17:44 ubuntu ntpdate[4086]: step time server 193.79.237.14 offset

Just booted, and these are the outputs on my pc:
$ cat /etc/timezone
Europe/Brussels
$ sudo zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007
/etc/localtime Sun Mar 25 00:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 25 01:59:59 2007 CET
isdst=0 gmtoff=3600
/etc/localtime Sun Mar 25 01:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 25 03:00:00 2007 CE
I fixed the time already with:
:~$ sudo ntpdate -u ptbtime2.ptb.de
So, can I help further?

Thanks for the reply VLK. That output looks good. Can you please confirm if
your clock is still wrong? If so, can you please add the full output of the
command: date and the correct time to the bug report?
If the clock is now correct, did you change any settings?

Same here (Ubuntu 7.10). Ubuntu did not switch from summer time to winter time
and even with time synchronisation enabled, the clock is not right.
