The fix you are using would probably have worked--my solution was to do
a clean re-install of Gutsy, which solved the problem. I hadn't done a
clean install of Ubuntu since Dapper, so apparently some lines of code
got crossed somewhere.

Caleb, just one thing though. If you kill and subsequently start gnome-
volume-manager again " killall gnome-volume-manager ; sleep 2 ; gnome-
volume-manager " do the devices magically remount? Mine do which seem to
indicate the problem is with gvm.

>From what I can tell, HAL and udev are handling the events correctly,
but G-V-M is not receiving the message. Also of interest is how the
udevmonitor cut off the end of the output--it did that several times
