This is not really a problem about xfont-wqy versions, but about
packaging. The old Debian/Ubuntu package compresses the PCF fonts,
which is the reason for the slow down. Now Debian has fixed this bug by
using uncompressed PCF fonts, and Ubuntu hardy has synced the new
version, so this bug is fix
Ok, thanks, that is helpful. However, it doesn't solve the problem of
ubuntu distro if is is no currently in official repository. I hope it
can be get into official repository sooner Or firefox startup script can
be improved to check different environment to make options setting
properly.

Hi Liu Qishuai, My ubuntu7.10 is up to date but still has problem, the
only package I didn't upgrade is libcairo2 which cause problem. Do you
mean I need manually upgrade wqy package (not via apt-get? )
