I seem to be suffering from the same problem as both iazz and Lars,
judging from the output of gnome-screensaver in debug mode when the
erroneous behavior appears. I'm running Hardy, with gnome-screensaver
version 2.22.2-0ubuntu1.

Nope. I'm using a plain Lenovo ThinkPad T500, but I had this problem too
on my old ThinkCentre. As a matter of fact I'm baffled by the fact that
I seem to be the only one in the world (still) experiencing this. I

So either it's not fixed completely or it has been reintroduced. My
version of gnome-screensaver is 2.24.0-0ubuntu2.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Hardy Heron.
If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please

I finally decided to checkout the latest SVN version of gnome-
screensaver and test it. It works well indeed, so I took the debian
directory from the source package, copied it into the SVN snapshot,
updated debian/changelog and built a package out of it. So far it works
like a charm.
