Update this if you find any solutions. I have given up for now as I lost
2 250 gig drives of data as it got corrupted. Luckily the data wasn't
all that important but I will still have to spend many hours to redo it.
Thanks

Whoops, I actually ran the command verbatim and then tried it without
the trailing part in case the package had been updated and I might be
able to get it via a "meta package". Basically a shot in the dark that
didn't work. That cut/paste was from the last thing I tried...

Hi Doug,
You left part of the Kernel image name off the end.
"sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic" is what you should
use or you could replace generic with server as well. Not sure what
difference it makes though.
Also I think I am giving up on the Silicon Image card with Linux. I
I am having the exact same problem. I have two 3114 cards and two 3124
cards, three WD 1T drives and a seagate 250 gig drive. I tried the above
instructions to add the Hardy repositories and install the newer kernel
image and get this:

I am having the exact symptoms as the OP with the same SATA Controller

able to test the SATA cont
Thanks for the update. I'm going to close this report for now since you
no longer have the controller card to test with. Please continue to
report any future bugs that you find, we really do appreciate it.
Thanks!

The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
