I did that, but it didn't solve anything. The machine was indeed left
in a unusable state. The only thing I could do was a complete install
from the CD, which I have now done, including of course re-formatting
the partitions with log files on (unless they were written to /home,
which seems unlike
Please run sudo dpkg --configure -a, as the error said. Without more
logs which tell us what went wrong, there is no way of solving this bug.
