I also got this error while upgrading with update-manager... So no
console log.
Afterwards I manually unsinstalled emacs 21 and installed 22.. Seems
like there was a conflict.

It happened while upgrading to gutsy (and this bug was filed by the upgrade
tool). I don't have any console output. Sorry.
Anyway, emacs was completely messed up by the upgrade for some reason so I had
to remove and install.
