I have Gutsy 7.10 with full updates as of today (Apr 22). I also found
that transcriber and wavesurfer have choppy playback.
I downloaded the source for snack directly from
http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/download.html
and extracted the files into
/home//download/snack2.2.10
inside the snack2.

As both programs use libsnack2 the problem is probably in the snack
library.

Hi!
I have the same too. I mailed the trascriber list about it in december,
not receiving any response. However, using the binary from the
transcriber website instead works well, so it seems it is something to
do with the gutsy package.
