First of all, using the "nv" driver resume works perfectly. Whe
The bug is not present anymore in more recent distributions (Hardy,
which I am using). The bug originally applied to Gutsy, not sure it has
been fixed. Anyway, this is not a good reason to close this bug, which
is, as far as we all know still open in Gutsy.

Fails to resume when using Nvidia-gl
Hi feranick,
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu? (I
An update for this bug. I installed (with envy) all stable nvidia drivers up to
the current 169.12, and that did not fixed the problem.
I performed a clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy), which uses nvidia 169.12.
Without any hack, suspend to RAM and resume works perfectly (like it did on

One other thing that helped me a bit on my other system (with which my
previous method didn't work) is to set the following in addition to the
previous workaround:
ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE=true
in /etc/default/acpi-support

As I've allready written in the Email. I've done a fresh Gutsy install.
I've compared your configuration files for xorg.conf and acpi-support, there's
no important difference.
I have no idea why S2Disk is working on your system and not on my :-(

I've tried the Suspend2Disk also with these parameters:
SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
POST_VIDEO=false
No success, it hangs on shutdown with a blank screen :-(
Do you have an idea why it works on your system and not on my? It's the
same laptop and the same graphic chip - strange ...

Fails to resume
Thanks for the feedback. I get a much faster resume (almost like in
feisty or when using nv) after Suspend2RAM by changing only these values
in /etc/default/acpi-support:
SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
POST_VIDEO=false
The system suspends very quickly, with no problems. It resume also
fairly quickly. It's
I have the same machine (also a D620 with NVidia) and I have the same problems.
With this workaround (see also bug #146228) Suspend2Ram works most times, but
not always.
Suspend2Disk never works, it fails on shutdown. Does it works for you?
