I've tried recreating this bug with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and was unable to, given

I had the same problem, typed in rm -rf .config/MonoDevelop and
MonoDevelop starts up now Thank you Sam.

A friend of mine said he had a similar or same problem and recommends
this...
