I can confirm exactly the same behaviour with ubuntu gutsy 7.10 on a
Fujitsu-siemens 1840w. I am attaching my syslog.txt grabbed with yareg
from windows installation after the crash. The crash comes after
connecting to a wireless network with wep encrpyition. It crashes the
first 5 secs as the icon
it happens all the time with live cd and with the complete installation.
I Have to use ndiswrapper and the windows .inf to get it work.

I got the same problem, but can only confirm it with the live cd. (it is
my "productive" System)
My system is an ACER Aspire 1355 LMI with a built-in Realtek 8180 wireless
card. The card works fine without encryption.
With encryption the system freezes (even no keyboard shortcuts to kill t

IBM T23. Realtek 8180 wireless card.
Full clean installation of Ubuntu 7.10 rc alternate CD downloaded 15/10/2007.
I can reproduce at will. If my wireless network is open I can connect no
problem.
When I add any security; WEP or WPA, the system freezes and I need to hard
