It has a slightly different signature, but yes i believe it's still
present in Intrepid. I seem to recall seeing that it was moved into the
kernel and disabling the driver no longer works, resulting in a 5 minute
boot delay and continual writing to /var/log/messsage of the following:

I put in that command but i was given the error message:
bash: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist: permission denied
I was never given the chance to enter my admin password
Is the a permission i need to set?

I have the same issue as well with my ACER Aspire 5672 using the
Logitech Orbicam.
Boot is longer due to issues with the camera and system log shows after
boot:
usb 5-8: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 16

I have found that a Canon Powershot A620 was detected but a Nikon D200
DSLR wasn't.

I recently encountered this problem too on my Acer Aspire 5610 laptop
with built in camera. (read: very common mid-range laptop). For me it
loop through USB addresses up to 127 and then started again at 2 during
boot. This stopped the boot process in its tracks(!). Rebooting in safe
mode didn't hel
