~xenial3 upgrade cleanly, as was ~xenial2
nothing warns with both versions; all the previous errors seen are now
gone. Note that i'm using lightdm as default.

dino, actually not quite, it inadvertently disables the migration
scripts, can you test ~xenial3 (building now)? I still haven't been able
to reproduce your errors...

3.18.0-2ubuntu4~xenial2 has a few more fixes that might help upgrade
case, can you test with that.

Tested the latest *ubuntu3 packages:
- direct upgrade: get the known issue
- goto /var/lib/dpkg/info/ to delete each related gdm/gdm3/gir1.2/libgdm
packages
- then open a terminal to install gdm/gdm3 : no warnings met
- but reinstalling the said packages from synaptic, and the error is back

I am fixing the error in term.log, but that could only be hit on a fresh
install, not upgrade.
not sure about comment #4, that makes no sense at all.
