@Mörgæs - I don't think this issue appears at all in 16.04. Since I
upgraded to 16.04LTS today, this issue has got resolved. I noticed that
the network-manager package was updated too during the upgrade, so the
fix might have come from there.

I can confirm this issue on Xubuntu 15.10 too. Using Joost's method (of
not using "New Mobile Broadband connection") seems to work sometimes but
not always and that too doesn't survive reboots. I'm in the process of
finding out more information/workarounds for this issue.

I have the same problem, using a Huawei E173 under Ubuntu 15.10.
I confirm that connections remain editable before reboot, when created
through nm-applet. This works both for those created using 'Edit
Connections' as for those created using the "New Mobile Broadband
connection" menu item (menu ite
I have the same problem sometimes with my mobile broadband. Using a
Huawei ME908s WWAN card under Ubuntu 15.10. Joosts workaround doesn't
work for me though as I seem to only e able to use a connection that was
created with the "add mobile broadband connection" wizard.

I can report that Joost's workaround works for me most of the time.
Though I have no clue why it sometimes doesn't work.

Sigh,... sorry but the workaround appears not to survive reboots.
Same error again after reboot,... seems something gets "smartly" "fixed".

I have the same problem.
Using Frank's method, I could connect to websites I've connected to
before (DNS-cache?) but not to new websites.
Using Joost's method (assuming I followed it correctly), I can edit the
connection but stiill cannot connect to new websites.
What worked as a workaround for
I have a workaround:
The problem appears to occur only when using the " add mobile broadband
connection wizard" from systemsettings-networksettings.
However, When you manually add the connection via the "edit connections
window", started from the bottom menu item of the network menu in the

I tried your suggestion, it didn't work alas,...
There are some issues with it:

- network group does not exist:
root@legolas:/etc/ppp/ip-up.d# cat ./00-dns.sh
#!/bin/sh -e
chmod 640 /etc/resolv.conf
chown systemd-network:sys
Same thing happens to me. I set up a mobile broadband connection, then
connect to the internet.
1. I am completely unable to edit the mobile broadband connection
2. I am not really connected to the internet. Firefox can make no connections,
and I cannot ping any servers.

Same bug on Ubuntu 15.10, i attached a screenshot too.
In my case i also previouly edited successfuly the connection after
fresh install, i can´t figure when was introduced.
The error appears when click "Edit" button on editor screen with mobile
connection selected.

the resolv.conf could be wrong.
try the modify pppd-startfile:
go to „/etc/ppp/ip-up.d/" and modify the file "00-dns.sh“.
At the end of the file write:
chmod 640 /etc/resolv.conf
chown root:network /etc/resolv.conf
so you have maked the standard of the file. that should be all.

I face this exact same issue on Ubuntu 15.10
The exact error I get is:

This happens when we click on Network icon > Edit Connections > Select

Can't reproduce error. Fresh install, apt-get update, apt-get upgrade
results in a functional network-manager version 1.0.4-0ubuntu5 . Mobile
broadband connection properties can be edited ok.
