When I say "all input and output options" I mean:
1. Is there sound from the speakers?
2. With headphone plugged in, are speakers muted?
3. Do headphones work?
4. Does microphone jack work?
5. If you have one, does the internal microphone work?

I have an Asus A7T as well, with ath ALC882 audio codec. I was able to
fix my sound issue using the alsa-base package installed by default
(version 1.0.14-1ubuntu2 at the time of this writing). Here are the
steps:
A. Create a new file called “/etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.modprobe”:
$ sudo gedit
