After performing my same test again I concur that this bug is currently
present with my installation of Ubuntu 7.10. I'm not sure if the
problem lies with blender or xserver-xorg-video-intel.

Blender causes Xorg crash loop

I'm still having the same issue, even with xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.1.1-0ubuntu9 on gutsy. The only line of debugging output I get from
blender is "intelWaitIrq: drmI830IrqWait: -16" - I'm not sure if this is
relevant. I have an Intel GMA X3100.

scene, causes this Xorg crash loop. To test: start Blender and "Render
-> Render Current Frame". The rendered scene will show in a new window
and then any attempt to move the mouse cursor will cause the Xorg crash
loop to begin.
