I have a similar problem on my Fujitsu P5020 laptop (Intel 855 graphics,
using default Intel driver), except for me the computer fails to suspend
with Desktop Effects enabled. The screen blanks, but then the hard disk
starts spinning, and the machine locks up. I have to do a hard reset to
get out
Wireless networking doesn't always restore properly from Suspend or
Hibernate with desktop effects off either.
