I also get this with the intel driver especially with AWN you can see
the rectangle where it is trying to render.
Turning off compiz fixes it... also happens with metacity's new
composite

When I run Tremulous with the Gutsy compiz effects enabled the mouse
doesn't work, however rendering appears okay. I run the game in full
screen, but with Compiz enabled it goes windowed mode sometimes.

I'm seeing similar results with the intel driver. It appears to happen
whenever a compiz item tries to overlay the 3d window in Celestia.

To clarify the above post, the artifacting was occurring using the "ati"
driver.

Same issue running Feisty on a PowerBook G4 (ATI Radeon 9600). Also

Thanks for your bugreport.
I can confirm this behavior here with the "ati" driver. I tried both
"unidirect fullscreen windows" on and off without any difference.
